With the advent of new synthetic materials the full slip has become more a lavish adornment than the utilitarian garment it was designed to be. Nylon and especially Antron and Antron III along with polyester and a tricot knit has revolutionized the way we view a slip. We wear them for comfort but we also wear them as lavish sexy, sensual extensions of our psyche and our desire to be feminine and perhaps a bit controlling in the bedroom. But long slips are becoming a fading memory as hemlines have gone up and neck lines have plunged the long slip is becoming harder and harder to find.

Full SlipsI will try to keep within the Full Slip category but some short Nightgowns can be used as slips and vice - versa. Today they are even using the term chemise (which I think of more for outerwear as the original of the name meant a smock or other covering worn over your clothing to protect the clothes underneath from soil and wear.) as a very short slip and some throw the word Charmeuse at you but this is not a garment but an opaque shiny fabric like satin.(You will find if you read any of this site that this is a pet peeve of mine. You'd think people in the business would at least know the proper terminology. Maybe they're trying to create a new language or maybe they're just trying to sound smart? DUH...Saw this on Ebay so must be right. Eh? I've seen them say you can make this out of cotton, nylon or tricot. Duh? Tricot is a type of weave not a fabric. You can have wool in a tricot weave. Sorry, it just frazzles my brain to think of such things. And I'm not trying to debase the ignorant individual who may ask for something in a nylon or tricot, as not everyone is aware of such things, but those who make their living selling material or clothing should at least know what they are talking about. Again I apologize for my spouting off like that. I'll save it for the about me page.) You may want to check the Gowns and Robes or Nighties links to see if anything there piques your interest. Over time the slip as we recognize it today still serves this purpose but as fabrics became more soft, luxurious, and yes sexy the full slip has come to take the place of sexy nightwear as well. Women still use the full slip to comfort them when wearing a rough dress but they also wear them as sexual temptations designed to engage a lovers eye and as very comfortable sleepwear. Unless fashion changes they will become collectors items as even now many Mfg's are no longer producing long full slips and those that are, are not making them near as elaborate as they once were. If you are in the market for a long slip today you must settle for the drab at the department stores, if they carry them, or go to special boutiques and pay a small fortune for the elaborate that we have come to expect. Here you do not need to pay inflated prices so long as you are comfortable with pre-owned like new condition. Many of our slips one couldn't tell they were ever worn, even the tags look new and as you know this is the first to show age when washed. It will take us a long time to list just what we have and we get more as often as we can. I wish hubby hadn't deleted much of what we sold as I would have loved giving you the opportunity to see some of the wonderful items we had listed. I'm sorry if the pages haven't changed in a while but there are so many demands on my time that It is difficult to keep up. I recently moved all my inventory to my Moms as she has a huge building we have set up Tamicraft Embroidery in and are using for our embroidery business. In doing so I noted I have literally hundreds of items I need to list. Time is an issue though and I hope to be able to devote some to do this after the holidays.Though this site is commercial in that we hope to sell our offered products we have posted pages that are informational in nature that we hope will help guide you in either your selections or in providing you with knowledge to help you in dating vintage clothing. I hope to have a forum up on this site soon, so I can have more topics specific to this site. Time is an issue as Hubby and I have 4 sites we try to keep updated as well as a burgeoning business in Tamicraft Embroidery and a family to tend to. Myself, Hubby and two lovely kids. But I will get to it as soon as I can.I get a few letters from people interested in specific items or wanting information on dating an item. I hope I've provided enough information to help guide you to resources that can be helpful. I know it can be a hassle researching through the USPTO and others, but with a bit of digging you can generally find what you need. There are sites out there which will give you more information and some that are just information sites. Some charge for their services some do not. A lot can be learned with just a bit of effort. When doing your research try to dig deep. Read my dating vintage page and you will see how one person found a date and assumed it was the date Antron III came into use. Further research on my part proved otherwise. Always dig deep and seldom think you have the answer 100% nailed as there will always be an exception to a rule.

If you have CP or know of someone who does have them go to the www.cpfsn.org site and have them send their stories to post or links to places where others can find useful information. You'd be helping them, me and other people with disabilities. We will never voluntarily sell or give out your name, address, email address or any other information we may collect unless required to do so by Court Order. Though we will not be responsible if the information is stolen. But to reassure you we only file your name the item you purchased and the amount of the purchase. We have to do this for tax purposes. Nothing else is kept on record after the sale. I apologize if the information was repeated but Google looks at tables fist come, and uses that information in their page listing. This means I must place a snippet of information in the first table, it will be repeated in the 2nd.
