St. Michael Black Checker Dress Most likely 60's vintage Made in W. Germany Number 9419 520   This is a very cute black-checkered dress. This is a mid length dress and has short sleeves. The top bodice area of the dress is solid black. The bottom part of the dress is black and white checkered. 9 Black Square buttons adorn the front of the dress. (There is an extra button sewn in on the tag of the dress.) I would venture to guess that as the button is still attached to the tag this dress was never or seldom worn.  would venture to say never. and as we all know the tags are the first to show wear you see none on these. With the attached button it has never seen a wash and yet it like new. Want to make a statement and stand out from the crown this is a beautiful retro dress that will get you noticed. This dress is furnished with shoulder pads.   Since we know that the Berlin Wall came down in 1989, I can say that this dress is pre-1989 for sure.  However  I would date this pre-80's probably late 50's or 60's. The materials tag is too intricate and detailed for it to be 50's but the square buttons, the demure pleated waist, the pleat and cut all leads me to think  60's. This is a very stylish dress reminiscent of those worn in the 50's though this particular one is likely 60's and if you have the figure for it , it will turn heads. This is the type dress that sets you apart from the rest of the crowd, a very demure 50's / 60's look.   I have taken the measurements off the tag and have also added some other measurements.  Please be sure to check them for a proper fit.   Bodice measures 33 inches (84cm). Hips measure 36 inches (91cm). Sleeve openings measure 5 ½ inches (14cm). Length of dress from back of neckline to bottom hem measures 36 ½inches (93cm).
