VINTAGE HANDCARVED LEATHER COWBOY HAT LODGE/CABIN DECOR I currently have 2 of these wonderful hats each is different but both are 100% leather 1/8 inch thick and hand carved or tooled. My parents bought these in the mid 60’s on a trip to Mexico as souvenirs and decoration. They could be worn and I give the inside band measurements in case this is your desire but they have always been used as decoration hanging on a wall. I suppose I might have put them on a time or two as a kid but they are adult size and did not fit well then. This hat measures 22 ½ inches 57cm at about the forehead ( just inside the brim) Leather can be wet and stretched a bit if needed. The pictures pretty much show all the hand tooled leather and the patterns. This one has: A horses head tooled on the top An Aztec or Mayan person in full head-dress on either side Decorative tooling surrounds the top, sides and brim of the hat A very nice job of shading as well There are metal conchos front and back that are showing some (very little) rust. Overall this hat is in GREAT condition and could be used to decorate a western motif lodge or cabin or used as head wear. They have survived the years in unexpectedly good condition and would make a fine addition to any western wear collection or décor.
